Step 1: Practitioner-Led CV & Background Screening

We don't rely on generic corporate recruiters. Every application is personally reviewed by our Level 3 certified founder. We meticulously check for chronological consistency, cross-reference employment timelines, and flag unexplained gaps to ensure absolute transparency from day one.

At Harrington Nannies, we don't just find childcare; we protect your home and nurture your child’s future. Because our agency is founded and led by a Level 3 Qualified Early Years Practitioner, our vetting process is one of the most rigorous in the UK.

We filter out 90% of applicants to ensure that only the most elite, secure, and educationally minded nannies ever reach your shortlist. Here is our non-negotiable 6-step screening protocol:


Step 2: The Developmental & EYFS Interview

Our interviews go far beyond standard character checks. We interview candidates through the lens of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. We deeply assess their understanding of:

  • Early childhood development milestones.

  • Age-appropriate learning through play.

  • Positive behavior management and emotional support.


Step 3: Comprehensive Document & Right-to-Work Verification

Before a nanny is presented to you, their legal identity is verified with absolute certainty. We visually inspect and verify:

  • Valid passports, visas, and UK Right-to-Work documentation.

  • Proof of address and national insurance verification.

  • Original childcare diplomas, degrees, and training certificates.


Step 4: Iron-Clad Safer Recruitment Reference Checks

Following strict safer recruitment guidelines, we conduct exhaustive reference checks. We contact at least two of the nanny's most recent employers directly via phone to verify their performance, temperament, trustworthiness, and reasons for leaving.


Step 5: Enhanced DBS & Update Service Verification

An Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is a mandatory requirement for every single person on our roster. Furthermore, we prioritize candidates registered with the DBS Update Service, allowing us to perform real-time, up-to-the-minute criminal record checks before they step foot into your home.


Step 6: Core Safety & Pediatric First Aid Compliance

Every Harrinton Nanny must hold a valid, up-to-date Pediatric First Aid Certificate (fully certified and practical, meeting Ofsted standards). They are also comprehensively briefed on modern safeguarding procedures, ensuring they know exactly how to protect and advocate for your child in any scenario.
